About TANXORA
TANXORA is an English-language platform for independent practitioners — solo founders, creators, artists, designers, and anyone building something on their own terms.
It started with one person’s 22 years of independent practice. Tan Xiaozheng — a designer, brand strategist, and curator — graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2004, founded DONGKOH (a leading independent animation publication), ran Backwall (an art interview studio), and has since served over 400 brands across animation, media, art, and cultural production.
TANXORA is the English extension of OWNLOG, a Chinese-language toolset and community for independent practitioners. What started as a personal methodology for building brands has become a framework that can serve anyone working alone.
What We Do Here
Principles — Brand methodology in practice. How to make independent work visible, valued, and sustainable.
Tools — The frameworks, systems, and workflows one person can use to build and sustain a practice.
Stories — Real conversations with independent practitioners. The lives behind the work.
Connect — Open calls, collaborations, and signals from the independent ecosystem.
Why Independent Work Matters
The way independent practitioners work is fundamentally different from the corporate model. There is no onboarding. No team meetings. No career ladder. There is only the work itself — and the question of how to make it visible to the right people.
TANXORA exists because the tools available to independent practitioners are usually designed for companies. Brand strategy, positioning, marketing — the language of these fields assumes a team, a budget, and a manager. We translate these practices into something a person working alone can actually use.
